## Inspiration

As a game developer, I wanted to challenge myself by creating a game from scratch within these 24 hours. I wanted to create something that was Halloween-themed and something humorous. I also wanted to build a pixel art level to challenge myself, since I have founded a Game Studio interested in 2D pixel art games about Filipino Culture. So I wanted to dust off my Unity skills and challenge myself to create a funny, but a bit scary game about a chicken collecting treasure in a haunted area.

## What it does

This game is a Unity 2D Top-Down experience, where you play as a chicken to collect keys to open your chest. By opening these chests you would gain health, allowing you to survive the encounter much longer.

## How we built it

Using the Unity Engine that uses Unity's physics engine to calculate the precise moment of the boss, player, and projectiles. The Unity Engine allows me, as a solo developer, to create levels and mechanics throughout the entirety of the hackathon.

## Challenges we ran into

One of the challenges that I ran into was animations. I was doing animations for like 2-3 hours since I am fairly new to the technical art side of Unity, and that took a minute. It also didn't help that Unity crashed on me halfway through the animations. The animations used state diagrams and transition diagrams was kinda confusing. Another set of challenges I ran into was being able to have the tilesets to be the correct size, which caused there to be a major problem with making the game look good in time. I also game late, around like 5 pm for the hackathon so I had a late start.

## Accomplishments that we're proud of

Even though I had a late start, I was able to accomplish a lot and I have a strong sense of accomplishment that I was able to create so much within this small amount of time. I was able to get a good handle on Unity animations and more practice on the Tile Map Set system.

## What we learned

I have gotten a better grasp of Unity animations, which is important for me because I need to get better at it, since I know that I am going to be the main programmer on my studio game and this was good practice. I enjoyed being able to practice more on the Tile Map system for me to do better on it.

## What's next for Captain Cluck's Adventure

I wanted to incorporate some of the boss elements and some of the things I have learned with level design, animation, and programming to better make this 2D-pixel art game I am creating with my studio.
