Lolo Ando's Sari Sari Store

You, the player, is a Filipino-American who has recently returned to the Philippines after the unfortunate death of your lolo (grandfather). You inherit his beloved sari-sari store—a small shop that serves as the heart of the community in a rural town. Stepping into this new life, you expect to reconnect with your heritage and honor your lolo’s legacy; however, you soon discover that the land he left you holds deeper, mysterious ties as it sits on land resonating with spiritual power rooted in Filipino tradition and belief. This land is a spiritual ground, a place where engkanto (spirits) of myth and folklore stir.

By day, you manage the store and build relationships with the townsfolk, uncovering the stories and traditions that your lolo cherished and that have been neglected or forgotten by younger generations. Each of your customers have their own quirks and stories such as an elder with a penchant for stories, and  a mother who recently miscarried. As you get to know them, they begin to share bits of folklore and memories that feel both familiar and unsettling, stories of creatures and engkanto  you vaguely recall from your lolo’s bedtime stories. The more you observe, the more you notice strange patterns and eerie details, hints that you customers may be more than they seem.

When night falls, your world shifts. In your dreams, mythological creatures emerge, trying to harm you, frighten you, or perhaps to simply test you. Death in the realm is not lasting, as you awaken to the same day, faced with the task of overcoming the challenges of the night. You realize that you must defeat each creature to break free, but victory requires understanding–not only of the creatures but of the relationships and traditions that exist in the real world too.
